Skywatch® IoMET

IoMET weather station

The IoMET measures wind speed, temperature and relative humidity. It has been developed for fine-grained outdoor meteorological measurements or for microclimatic conditions in greenhouses or vertical farms:

  • An omnidirectional wind turbine that measures the wind horizontally and vertically.
  • Integrated shield for humidity and temperature sensors.
  • Solar radiation
  • Easy to deploy: assembly in seconds
  • Long autonomy: three years of continuous use
  • Rechargeable lithium-polymer battery
  • Solar power for totally autonomous operation*.
  • Robust, waterproof case

* available on special order

Applications

Technical data

The IoMET measures the following elements:

  • Wind speed
  • Humidity
  • Temperature
  • Barometric pressure

Data is transferred via LoRa over The Things Network and the packet format is as follows:

TTN

Each weather station has a serial number used as a unique identifier for the TTN.

Deveui will be 0x31353430 + 4 bytes serial number.
example for an SN of 4000: DevEui= 0x3135343000000FA0

AppKey is user-configurable

The IoMET includes the weather station and a mounting bracket that can be attached to a perpendicular surface using screws or straps.

To attach the weather station to the bracket :

  • Unscrew the heat shield from the humidifier probe at the bottom of the unit.
  • Drill a 12 mm hole in the bracket and feed the humidifier probe through the hole from above.
  • Replacing the heat shield

Measures

Temperature Humidity Pressure Wind speed

Measurement range 0°C to 65°C 10% to 90% 260 to 1260 hPa 0 m/s to 50 m/s

Wireless

  • LoRaWAN Class A
  • Specification 1.0.2 revision B
  • Europe 863 - 870 MHz

Battery

  • LiPo 1C 3.7V 1580mAh
  • 1 year autonomy (one measurement every 15 minutes)
  • Powered by rechargeable micro USB battery, with battery charge indicator

Maintenance

Opening the file

Access the micro-USB connector mounted on the board to configure and charge the device, unscrew the top screw and carefully remove the top part.

Closing the case

Make sure the O-ring is clean and undamaged to prevent moisture penetration. Gently press the upper half of the housing onto the lower half.

Replace the top screw, making sure it's tight (there's another O-ring between the top screw and the housing) and that the circlip holding the top screw captive is intact.

Battery level

The battery level is sent by lora in a specific packet every 24 hours.

0 to 100% with a resolution of 1 LSB = 0.5%.

Plug in the micro-USB cable to recharge the battery. A full charge takes 3 hours. The charging indicator remains lit until charging is complete.

  • You must first add your device to TTN
  • Go to applications
  • Create an application
  • In the application, go to End devices
  • Register the final device
  • Enter the given DevEUI and AppKey and click on Register end device.
  • Open upper housing
  • Connecting the battery
  • Now your data will be sent to TTN!
