Skywatch® Eole

Accurately measures wind strength

Skywatch® Eole

Skywatch Eole is an anemometer with a large 54 mm propeller that accurately measures wind strength regardless of direction.

Skywatch® Meteos

Calculating the perceived temperature

Skywatch® Meteos

Skywatch Meteos instantly shows you the temperature or the actual temperature felt by your body when the wind blows.

Skywatch® Atmos

For professionals

Skywatch® Atmos

Anemometer - thermometer - hygrometer specially designed for professional use: agriculture, environment, expeditions, etc.

Skywatch® Wind

A pioneer in the field of portable anemometers, JDC Electronic has focused its expertise on developing quality anemometers since 1984 with its Skywatch brand, combining two watchwords: simplicity and efficiency.

The Skywatch® Wind measures wind speed, air temperature and wind chill quickly and accurately. Small enough to take anywhere, impervious to dust and shock and with a user-replaceable propeller, the latest addition to the JDC family is designed and manufactured in Switzerland.

Skywatch® Pro

The Skywatch®Pro has been specially designed to meet the needs of professionals operating in extreme conditions, offering greater accuracy, particularly in terms of wind speed, superior robustness to cope with extreme temperatures, and extended autonomy thanks to its rechargeable battery.

With its extensive range of functions, the Skywatch®Pro is both versatile and lightweight. It measures not only wind speed, but also wind chill (the temperature you feel), humidity, barometric pressure and your altitude, giving you a complete picture of the surrounding weather conditions.

The Skywatch®Pro is equipped with a variometer to monitor your vertical speed in real time, as well as an adjustable clock to help you stay on time. This Pro version also offers a personalised experience thanks to its 8 customisable pages, which allow you to select up to 3 functions per page to suit your specific needs.

Skywatch® Eole

Skywatch Eole is an anemometer with a large 54 mm propeller that accurately measures wind strength regardless of direction. The Skywatch Eole is powered by two replaceable LR6 batteries. The display is accurate to one tenth of a unit up to 99.9, then to the nearest unit. The aluminium base gives the device great strength, and the 1/4″ thread on the underside of the device allows it to be mounted on a photo tripod.

A larger, more robust anemometer, the Eole has a multi-directional propeller for precise measurement without the need to be perfectly aligned with the wind. It's the ideal companion for kit-surfers and sailors.

Mounted on a tripod, you can constantly check the current state of the surrounding weather conditions.

The Eole is an unsinkable device, so it can fall into the water without disappearing into the abyss, and its backlighting means it can be used even when daylight is fading.

Measuring the temperature you feel: As you know, low temperatures are dangerous for the human body. But did you know that the wind has a major influence on the actual temperatures felt by your body? Take the Skywatch Meteos with you wherever you go and you'll instantly know how your body feels, so you can avoid the risk of frostbite and hypothermia.

Calculation: The temperature felt is calculated by taking into account the ambient temperature and the wind speed. In windy conditions, it gives an indication of heat loss if the temperature is below 37°C and heat gain if the temperature is above 37°C.
For example: an ambient temperature of 0°C and a wind of 30 km/h have the same effect on your body as a temperature of -7.8°C!

Skywatch® Atmos

Anemometer - thermometer - hygrometer specially designed for professional use in agriculture, the environment, expeditions, etc. The Skywatch Atmos will help you control your crops and the impact of the weather on the environment.

Stringent European legislation and increasingly extreme weather conditions mean that climatic parameters have to be measured frequently in order to monitor crop growth as effectively as possible.

The Skywatch Atmos's precision, ease of use and multiple functions make it an indispensable technological asset for agricultural professionals.

The Skywatch Atmos is particularly recommended for :

  • Agriculture : checking weather conditions before spraying crops and monitoring the livestock environment.

  • Agri-food : control of storage conditions (temperature, humidity).

General questions

These 2 abbreviations (QFE and QNH) are extracts from the famous "Q" code. This code was instituted by the London Conference in 1912. It consists of a list of 3-letter codes valid for all countries in the world. Intended mainly for telegraphic and radiotelegraphic transmissions (in Morse code), it is a list of abbreviations, summarising in three unambiguous letters sentences, questions or answers that are long to formulate in plain language, thus eliminating the risks of errors in transmission, reception, language and interpretation. The "Q" code is still widely used today by ships and amateur radio operators. It is still used officially in radiotelephony. The aeronautical world does not use all of it, but some of it is used on a daily basis.

Measuring wind is not easy in a natural environment, as many factors come into play: the flow of air can be greatly altered if you have several anemometers next to each other. The inclination of the device in the airflow can also cause an error in the wind measurement. Our anemometers cannot be calibrated independently and are checked in our workshops before being released for sale.

Note If the data displayed by your instrument seems very different from reality, check that you are comparing all the instruments with the same unit. It can happen that you change the unit without realising it.

  • Atmospheric pressure at ground level, also known as absolute pressure.
  • QNH Atmospheric pressure calculated at sea level under standard atmospheric conditions, also known as relative pressure. This is the pressure announced in weather reports or on television.

The temperature felt is calculated by taking into account the ambient temperature and the wind speed. In windy conditions, it gives an indication of the heat lost by the body if the temperature is below 10°C. Formula adopted in January 2003 by the US Federal Office of Meteorological Coordination in conjunction with the Canadian Meteorological Service (MSC), the US Department of Defense (DOD) and the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

For example: an ambient temperature of 0°C and a wind of 30 km/h have the same effect on your body as a temperature of -7.8°C!
