A pioneer in the field of portable anemometers, JDC Electronic has focused its expertise on developing quality anemometers since 1984 with its Skywatch brand, combining two watchwords: simplicity and efficiency.
The Skywatch® Wind measures wind speed, air temperature and wind chill quickly and accurately. Small enough to take anywhere, impervious to dust and shock and with a user-replaceable propeller, the latest addition to the JDC family is designed and manufactured in Switzerland.

Skywatch® Eole
Skywatch Eole is an anemometer with a large 54 mm propeller that accurately measures wind strength regardless of direction. The Skywatch Eole is powered by two replaceable LR6 batteries. The display is accurate to one tenth of a unit up to 99.9, then to the nearest unit. The aluminium base gives the device great strength, and the 1/4″ thread on the underside of the device allows it to be mounted on a photo tripod.
A larger, more robust anemometer, the Eole has a multi-directional propeller for precise measurement without the need to be perfectly aligned with the wind. It's the ideal companion for kit-surfers and sailors.
Mounted on a tripod, you can constantly check the current state of the surrounding weather conditions.
The Eole is an unsinkable device, so it can fall into the water without disappearing into the abyss, and its backlighting means it can be used even when daylight is fading.

Eole pouch
Dust may have infiltrated and prevented the unit from working properly. Rinse your Eole under clear water quickly, holding the appliance horizontally and passing the propeller under the stream of water. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the propeller and shaft.

The selectable units are: knots, km/h, mph, m/s, fps and bft. To change the units, see the explanations under "how to configure my deviceOnce the unit has been selected, it will remain displayed in the top right-hand corner. When no unit is displayed, the device is in Beaufort mode.

It gives you an average wind speed over a defined interval. Setting the average time: The times that can be selected are : - (weighting), 3'', 6'', 12'', 30'', 1', 6', 30', 1:00', 6:00', 12:00', 24:00' or Timer (a small stopwatch appears on the right when Timer mode is activated : 
). Timer mode is used to measure the average over a set period of time between a start (press ) and a stop (press ), this time is displayed on the bottom line. This Timer also allows you to use the LapTime function (press the symbol flashes). The button can also be used to zero the timer. It works in the same way as a standard stopwatch.
Selectable displays are : -, MIN, AV, MAX. When AV is selected, the average for temperature and wind is displayed. Average values are always displayed simultaneously for wind (middle) and temperature (bottom). The other modes (-, MIN, MAX) only concern the temperature. The display setting is not available if the unit selected is the perceived temperature °F or °C.
Important The cap must be removed from the instrument to allow the propeller to rotate. The propeller provides maximum sensitivity in the vertical position (thanks to its magnetic levitation) and optimum accuracy when its axis of rotation is perpendicular to the wind direction.
The instantaneous wind speed is shown at the top of the display, with the maximum wind speed in the middle. The maximum wind speed is displayed in the centre. This is the maximum value measured over the average time. The value is set to zero when the memory is reset. Average wind speed (bottom of digital display) The average value is displayed on the 3rd line, and is the average value calculated over the pre-selected time. Only for the Meteos: the average does not work if the device is in a perceived temperature mode.
As you probably know, low temperatures are dangerous for the human body. But did you know that the wind has a major influence on the temperatures your body actually feels? For example, an ambient temperature of 0°C and a wind speed of 30 km/h have the same effect as a temperature of -13°C! The result of calculating the effect of wind on temperature is called the "felt temperature". Whether you're at sea, in the mountains, hiking or cycling, the Skywatch Meteos gives you an instant indication of the temperature your body is feeling, warning you of frostbite and hypothermia.
To reset your values, simply press the and for about 3 seconds.
As this anemometer is not designed to act as a datalogger, it is not possible to record or export the measurements taken.
In these two modes, this is the minimum or maximum value measured over the averaging time. The value is reset to zero when the memory is RESET. These values are not given for the temperature felt by the body.
The device is waterproof and weatherproof, but only needs to be submerged for a short time.
Yes, there is a 1/4" thread on the base of the camera for mounting on a tripod.
What is the power supply and autonomy of my Skywatch® Eole/ Meteos? Your anemometer is powered by 2 x 1.5V (AA) batteries. Battery life is a minimum of 3 years with occasional use of the lighting.
To change the batteries in your device, simply unscrew the three screws on the metal plate (base).
Your appliance is switched off by pressing the on/off button for 2 seconds ( ). There is no automatic stop.
The SKYWATCH speed measurement principle® Eole Meteos is based on the detection of the rotating magnetic field produced by the propeller. If the instrument is in the presence of a strong magnetic field produced by a transformer or motor, it is possible that the instrument will indicate unwanted values, in the absence of propeller rotation.

Skywatch Meteos is an anemometer-thermometer that accurately measures wind strength regardless of direction. The Skywatch Meteos is powered by two replaceable LR6 batteries. The display is accurate to one tenth of a unit up to 99.9, then to the nearest unit. A thread on the underside of the device allows it to be mounted on a photo tripod.
Measuring the temperature you feel: As you know, low temperatures are dangerous for the human body. But did you know that the wind has a major influence on the actual temperatures felt by your body? Take the Skywatch Meteos with you wherever you go and you'll instantly know how your body feels, so you can avoid the risk of frostbite and hypothermia.
Calculation: The temperature felt is calculated by taking into account the ambient temperature and the wind speed. In windy conditions, it gives an indication of heat loss if the temperature is below 37°C and heat gain if the temperature is above 37°C.
For example: an ambient temperature of 0°C and a wind of 30 km/h have the same effect on your body as a temperature of -7.8°C!
