Skywatch® Wind
A pioneer in the field of portable anemometers, JDC Electronic has focused its expertise on developing quality anemometers since 1984 with its Skywatch brand, combining two watchwords: simplicity & efficiency.
Skywatch® Wind measures wind speed, air temperature and wind chill quickly and accurately. Small enough to take anywhere, insensitive to dust and impact, with a user-replaceable propeller, the latest addition to the JDC family is designed and manufactured in Switzerland.

Skywatch® Eole
Skywatch Eole is an anemometer with a large 54 mm propeller that accurately measures wind strength regardless of direction. The Skywatch Eole is powered by two replaceable LR6 batteries. Display in tenths of a unit up to 99.9, then in units. The aluminum base gives the camera great strength, and the 1/4″ thread on the underside allows it to be attached to a photo tripod.
A larger and more robust anemometer, the Eole is equipped with a multi-directional propeller allowing a precise measurement without having to be perfectly oriented in the wind axis. It is the ideal companion for kite surfers or navigators.
Attach it to a tripod; you can constantly check the current state of the surrounding weather conditions.
The Eole is unsinkable, so it can fall into the water without disappearing into the abyss, and its backlighting means it can be used even when daylight is fading.

Eole clutch bag
Dust may have infiltrated and is preventing the unit from working properly. Rinse your Eole under clear water as quickly as possible, holding the unit horizontally and passing the propeller under the stream of water. This prevents dust accumulation on the propeller and in the shaft.

To enter your device’s configuration mode, simply press the button. When the button is pressed again, the system validates the setting if there has been a change, otherwise it moves on to the next setting. To change the settings, use the and buttons.
Selectable units: knots, km/h, mph, m/s, fps and bft. To change units, please refer to the explanations given under “How to configure my device”. Once the unit has been selected, it remains displayed in the top right-hand corner. When no unit is displayed, the unit is in Beaufort mode.
Selectable units are : °C, °F, perceived temperature (in °C or F°). To change the units, see “How to configure my device“.
It gives you an average wind speed over a defined interval. Setting the averaging time: The selectable times are: — (weighting), 3”, 6”, 12”, 30”, 1′, 6′, 30′, 1:00′, 6:00′, 12:00′, 24:00′ or Timer (a small stopwatch appears on the right when Timer mode is activated: 
). Timer mode measures the average time over a defined period between a start (press ) and a stop (press ), displayed on the bottom line. This timer also allows you to use the LapTime function (press , the symbol flashes). The button can also be used to reset the timer. It works in the same way as a standard stopwatch.
Selectable displays are : —, MIN, AV, MAX. When AV is selected, the average is displayed for both temperature and wind. Average values are always displayed simultaneously for wind (middle) and temperature (bottom). The other modes (—, MIN, MAX) concern temperature only. The display setting is not available if the unit selected is °F or °C.
Important: the cap must be removed from the instrument to allow the propeller to rotate. The propeller has maximum sensitivity in the vertical position (thanks to its magnetic levitation) and optimum precision when its axis of rotation is perpendicular to the wind direction.
The instantaneous wind speed is at the top of the display, and the maximum speed in the middle. The maximum wind speed is displayed in the middle section. This is the maximum value measured over the average time. The value is reset to zero when the memory is RESET. Average wind speed (bottom of digital display) The 3rd line shows the average value calculated over the pre-selected time. Only for the Meteos: averaging does not work if the device is in a perceived temperature mode.
As you probably know, low temperatures are dangerous for the human body. But did you know that wind strongly influences the temperatures your body actually feels? For example, an ambient temperature of 0°C and a wind speed of 30 km/h have the same effect as a temperature of -13°C! The result of calculating the effect of wind on temperature is called the “perceived temperature”. Whether you’re at sea, in the mountains, hiking or biking, Skywatch Meteos gives you instant feedback on your body temperature, preventing frostbite and hypothermia.
To reset your values, simply press the and buttons simultaneously for about 3 seconds.
As this anemometer is not designed as a datalogger, it is not possible to save or export measurements.
In both modes, it is the minimum or maximum value measured over the averaging time. The value is reset to zero when the memory is RESET. These values are not given for the temperature felt by the body.
The device is waterproof and weatherproof, but should only be submerged for a short time.
Yes, there’s a 1/4″ thread on the base of the camera for mounting on a tripod.
What is the power supply and autonomy of my Skywatch® Eole/ Meteos? Your anemometer is powered by 2 x 1.5V (AA) batteries. Battery life is a minimum of 3 years with occasional use.
To change the batteries in your device, simply unscrew the three screws on the metal plate (base).
To switch off, press the on/off button for 2 seconds ( ). There is no automatic stop.
The SKYWATCH® Eole Meteos speed measurement principle is based on the detection of the rotating magnetic field produced by the propeller. If the device is in the presence of a strong magnetic field produced by a transformer or motor, the instrument may indicate unwanted values, in the absence of propeller rotation.

Whether you’re at sea, in the mountains, hiking or on an expedition, the Skywatch Meteos is there to instantly tell you the temperature or actual temperature your body feels when the wind is blowing.
Skywatch Meteos is an anemometer-thermometer that accurately measures wind strength regardless of direction. The Skywatch Meteos is powered by two replaceable LR6 batteries. Display in tenths of a unit up to 99.9, then in units. A thread on the underside of the camera allows it to be attached to a photo tripod.
Measuring perceived temperature: As you know, low temperatures are dangerous for the human body. But did you know that wind strongly influences the actual temperatures felt by your body? Carrying the Skywatch Meteos with you wherever you go, you’ll know instantly what your body temperature feels like, so you can avoid the risk of frostbite and hypothermia.
Calculation: Feeling temperature is calculated by taking into account ambient temperature and wind speed. In windy conditions, it gives an indication of heat loss if the temperature is below 37°C, and of heat gain if the temperature is above 37°C.
For example, an ambient temperature of 0°C and a wind speed of 30 km/h have the same effect on your body as a temperature of -13°C.
